By Kerry Tiller - kctiller@cox.net Tue 29/07/03 11:26:00 GMT Actually, no. I can't think of any ancient Egyption renderings of female bathers. Greek, yes, Roman, yes, but not Egyprtian. Egyptian art was pretty stiff and 2 dimentional anyway. Here's a pic (a modern reproduction of a painting from Queen Nefertari's tomb) of Queen Nefertari wearing just such a linen dress as mentioned in the translation piece. The queen (XVIII Dynesty, New Kingdom circa 1500 B.C.E.) is in white, she is depicted hand in hand with the godess Isis. http://kingsroyalimports.safeshopper.com/images/b515p3yc.jpg

By Adman - Tue 29/07/03 07:49:20 GMT We have been around for some time. According to John Berger in his book About Looking, the following inscription was found on an Egyptian statue, 3500 years old (here in English translation)
O my belowed how sweet it is to go down and bathe in the pool before your eyes letting you see how my drenched linen dress marries the beauty of my body Come, look at me
