Yes, I found that image eventually - what a feeble way of giving an impression of wetness! The actress probably wasn't the one in the water - I imagine it was a stunt performer. If it was a stuntwoman then the scene should still be worth having as we should at least get to see her wading into the water and then submerging herself.
Presumably there should also be something of the first few moments after she's been hauled into the boat in which she (the actress this time) will presumably have to have been a lot wetter. However they could, of course, have copped out altogether with an unrecognisable figure being dragged into the boat, followed by an immediate cut to a scene where they've just reached the riverbank and she's miraculously dry again and what would have been matted, straight and dripping hair has suddenly regained its styling and curls in that short space of time! We'll just have to wait and see....

By Chris W - elgol@gmx.co.uk Thu 21/11/02 19:15:42 GMT Website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/deronda/gallery5.shtml I've found the above post-rescue pic, which isn't wetlook in itself, but at least shows you the actress and dress involved. It looks like it might be one of those mysterious occasions where the character suddenly and inexplicably becomes much drier in a very short space of time! I know people get cold between takes, but you could keep throwing warm water over them to keep them going and also keep the scene accurate! |
In reply to Message (1003) UK TV Wetlook Alert - Saturday
By Chris W - elgol@gmx.co.uk Thu 21/11/02 19:04:10 GMT A new costume drama, Daniel Deronda, starts on BBC 1 tomorrow night. I've just seen a trailer which shows a woman wearing a period black dress in a river. She submerges herself in what looks to be an attempt to commit suicide (there was no sound during the clip as it was being shown to accompany an interview). The clip ended just as she was being hauled into a boat by Daniel Deronda but, as she'd only just submerged herself, I would imagine that she'll be rescued safely. I don't know if this scene will be in tomorrow's first episode, but set your videos just in case! |
