My alternative is to have my Betamax repaired by one of several firms, advertised on the net. That is pricey, but I have lotsa footage.
I have investigaged having my Beta converted. Most services offer conversions to VHS tape at an unacceptable price per foot or minute. But VHS is on the way out, DVD is in. So I will wait a little longer until either the prices drop or I can do it myself.

By Drdamp - Thu 28/10/04 01:11:08 GMT A message for Sopping. I saw your posting about your unwatchable beta tape. Here in the UK we have various companies that can convert 8mm film and beta to VHS and DVD. I would imagine that since such a service is available here that it will be available in the States too.I just had a wedding video on beta converted to VHS for a friend and it cost 24 pounds, I'll leave you to work out what that is in dollars. At least you have the option of updating the beta video to a more modern media form. |
