Inzwischen habe ich auch Piriform Recuva auf dem Rechner, für einfache Undelete-Funktionen ist das wesentlich komfortabler.

Ob das allerdings auch komplette Verzeichnisstrukturen wiederherstellen kann, das weiß ich nicht.

Zum Synchronisieren der Platten/Verzeichnisse habe ich dann damals noch Aborange Synchronizer gekauft, sehr brauchbar!

Die Backupplatte ist ein Spiegel der normalen, und kann im Grunde sofort im Austausch eingebaut werden.

Es erstellt also nicht einfach nur ein Image.

Oberhalb von etwa 750.000 Dateien kann es aber auch mal abstürzen, wahrscheinlich weil die 3GB Ram eines 32bit-Systems einfach zu klein sind.

Wenn ein Image der Platte ausreicht, dann ist die Sichern/Wiederherstellen-Funktion von Win7 ganz ok, ich weiß aber nicht, ob es immer ein komplettes Image erzeugt oder ob man da wählen kann, nur die Änderungen seit dem letzen Backuplauf hinzuzufügen.

I used Meetsoft Finalrecovery, the paid version, as these days there weren´t decent freeware solutions.

Now I also got Piriform Recuva on my computer, for simple undelete operations it´s much more comfortable.

Don´t know if it´s able to recover complete directory structures, though.

For synchronizing of drives/directories I bought Aborange Synchronizer then, very useful!

The backup drive is a full mirror of the live one, it can be put into the computer as a ready-to-use replacement, as it is not just generating an image.

Above about  750,000 files it sometimes crashes, maybe the 3GB ram of a 32bit system are just not sufficient.

If an image of the drive is sufficient, the backup/restore feature of Win7 is quite ok, I just don´t know if it´s always making a full image or if you can choose just to make an incremental backup.
