It is great to know what people think, whether negative or positive.    The worst thing is if you make the effort for others' benefit, and are met with a deafening silence.

As for your comment that they are "disturbing", I think I would agree had I not seen the same sort of thing happening many many times on Britain's summer beaches.    When you have stood and watched (to take an example from June 2012) a large group of women in their thirties and forties, some wearing sweatshirts declaring their membership of an evangelical Christian church, repeatedly going back up Bournemouth beach to forcibly drag yet another of their party into 13C water, fully clothed including shoes and jackets - and then do a group-hug and photosession and go away well 'bonded'; when you have yourself (on several separate occasions) thrown a girl forcibly into the sea in much the same way as in these videos, then shortly afterwards found yourself snogging her on the beach [all many years ago I hasten to add]; when you have experienced that sort of thing you perhaps more easily accept that "fun" is the right word.    The main difference - and the thing that admittedly made me cringe a bit - is that on the beach there is nothing more painful than sand to hit in the struggle, whereas here there is a concrete or stone surround to the trough, which could do some serious damage.

But I'm sure these are not some random tourists being dragged into the trough as they pass by.    The people who go up there during carnaval know what they are letting themselves in for.    I can just imagine a girl who was groped saying excitedly to her pals "was that Pepe who grabbed my boobs?".    Then if she fancies Pepe, she will gladly take the hint, and make sure that he soon gets the opportunity to grab her boobs again without any clothes (wet or otherwise) in the way; if she doesn't fancy him but accepts him as 'one of the gang' she will find some practical joke to pay him back soon enough; and if she doesn't appreciate his attentions the word will go out and Pepe will be cold-shouldered by all of her mates until he makes amends.   Politically-correct?  Probably not.   Normal human sexual interaction?   I think so.
