Now there's a trip down memory lane, because I used to live in Bromley South from 1962 to 1979 and traveled many times to Margate, which was my favorite spot for seeing wetlook events. The best times were in the late 60's and early 70's when you had all the mods and rockers on the beach (see the movie "Quadrophenia") and there would be many girls in go go boots and miniskirts playing in the sea. In those days Margate had a great pier which was sadly destroyed in the great storm of 1978. Sometimes I would go to nearby Ramsgate and Broadstairs beaches but Margate was always the best spot for me.

I remembered one amusing event in 1970 where I got so carried away watching wetlook people and walking on the beach, I had left my clothes in a pile on the beach and then lost them when the tide came in, so I had to return home on the train wearing only my swimming trunks..........which is why I always remember Spike Milligan's parody poem...

"I must go down to the sea again,

to the lonely sea and the sky;

I left my shoes and socks there -

I wonder if they're dry? "

Not maybe something you could do every day, but if I were you I would head for the coast - Margate is best on your side of London; two trains an hour from Bromley South, takes an hour and a half. If you look at my recent pics from there (the ones with an 'M' number in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1neerUH0rWw ) you will see that there are so many wet clothed people that one more won't be noticed!

Hi everyone, my name is Aran and I have been visiting this forum for about 20 years but only posted a few things over the years. I have been getting wet for as long as I can remember but only in baths and showers in the comfort of my own home. Just recently I have started swimming in a lake not far from me but I was wondering if there was any where else to swim fully clothed, lakes or swimming pools in or near south east London? Thanks
