Never been to Uruguay, but been many times to Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, El Savador and Mexico on many business trips and vacations. My experience, wetlook-wise, is that culture wise there is a big difference between South and Central America and Asia (and I have been to most countries in Asia as well). The difference is that in South America they celebrate "the body" and showing off skin (Brazil is the land of the Thong and the Tanga) and Asian countries are lands of modesty, and they prefer to hide their bodies and not show them off. This is the big difference when it comes to attitudes towards clothing and covering up their bodies at the beach with clothing et...e.g. in Brazil it would be highly unusual to see people swimming in clothing at the beach cos everybody will be wearing itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikins.....whereas in places like Thailand or Malaysia it would be highly unusual to see a girl wearing a bikini at the beach.

Basically you can divide wetlook culturally into 2 areas.....one area being "everyday wetlook" (what folks do on an everyday basis) and another area being "special events wetlook" (which means special festivals).....and generally I would say that if you are looking for everyday wetlook....go to Asia and forget about South America. If you are intent on going to South America, especially Brazil....plan on going during the time when they have special festivals, cos you won't see much on Copacabana or Ipanema Beach except for thongs, but if you go during the festival "Yemanja" (Iemanjá, Janaína, Mãe da Água) you can see the ladies in white dresses as they wade into the sea to offer gifts to the sea goddess...e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTA6MG5UpsM

In other countries like Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama and El Salvador the best time to see wetlook events is during carnival time......

So if you are paying for your own trip and want to see wetlook anywhere anytime of the year, your money is best spent by skipping South America and going to Asia instead. where you can see wetlook on the beaches every day. If you on a the company expense account and your boss is sending you on a business trip to South America, there is not much to see wetlook wise unless you go during special festivals like Carnaval....but if your company is paying for the trip, just enjoy the great food and the culture..

I have been to South America a lot a few years ago (had to travel there for work and often added some vacations afterwards). In my experience, the amount and quality of wetlook varies a lot regionally (even within one city (from beach to beach)). The chances of seeing wetlook in South America are generally much higher than in Europe (and North America), maybe except for the UK (there is still some good wetlook there). In the very rich or very touristy places, wetlook is far less common (average European level). Slightly poorer areas (which in some places in South America can mean notably more dangerous, but not always ... most places are still relatively safe, but in some of the bigger cities, especially in Brazil, security situation varies drastically from street to street as odd as it sounds) and also areas less frequented by foreign tourists, the chances of seeing wetlook are close to 100%. The best place for wetlook to which I have been in those two countries, were Playa Ramirez in Montevideo, Praia da Ponta Negra in Manaus, and (although I think I was just lucky) Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro at sunset. I am pretty sure there are other (likely even better) places in Uruguay and Brazil. If you consider going to other countries, I know a lot of nice wetlook spots there.

Hey everybody.

Anybody have observations/stories/tips of wetlook in South-American countries ? Seen many videos of lovely latinas getting soaked and they seem bit more open, relaxed/joyful about it. Is it as common as I'm lead to believe ?

I'm thinking of visiting Brazil/Uruguay and interested what kind of mentality/attitude there is towards getting wet in clothes.
