An Adventure in Space and Time, yes, seen it, great historical docudrama... informative and entertaining at the same time, despite what I am sure must have been at least a little creative license. |

That was a bit too weird for me....having a love interest with a women old enough to be his mother....the whiff of an Oedipus complex just weirded me out. So did the relationship between the latest Doctor and Jenna Coleman.....the age differemce was so great she made him look like a dirty old man.....ha ha
Frankly...with Matt Lucas already a current companion in the latest series....it would not surprise me if the current Doctor, who is due to leave soon anyway, regenerated into David Walliams....cos then you would have the perfect chemistry and then they could call the next seires "Little Britain goes time travelling.....now that would be more entertaiining to watch than the current series is.
The best documentary movie the BBC has made in years was the story of how Doctor Who was created and the Hartnell years....have you seen this...an excellent drama

You learn many things from this docudrama....e.g. did you know that Doctor Who was not created by us Brits....it was the brainchild of Canadian TV producer Sydney Newman....who fought with BBC for years to get his concept aired. He also created The Avengers as well.

In reply to Message (70421.1.1.1) OT: Bond, Who, Batman
By AnthonyX - anthonyx@cogeco.net Wed 24/05/17 02:18:45 GMT Actually, I kinda agree with most of your picks below.
Tom Baker - yes, although I did start watching the show as a very young boy and for a time thought that THE doctor was the originator of the role, William Hartnell, I don't really remember my childhood viewings of the show, only the icons - the TARDIS, the Daleks, etc.. For a time I thought Jon Pertwee was the best doctor (after a gap in viewings spanning all of Troughton and much of Pertwee), until about Tom Baker's second or third season. Yeah, Tennant has been best of the revival doctors so far.
I never saw much of Jo Grant; when I caught up with the show, Katy Manning was leaving and Elizabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane) was arriving. I thought she was sexy... until Nyssa (Sarah Sutton) came along... and then came Nicola Bryant - mildly annoying character, but best boobs to ever grace the console room. Of the "new" companions, sexiest would be a toss-up between Jenna Coleman (Clara) and one-timer Michelle Ryan, though oddly I find a certain mature sexiness in Alex Kingston. Among guest stars, I found Orla Brady as Mother Superious of the Papal Mainframe Tasha Lem rather sexy too.
I heartily agree - Catherine Tate - most annoying
Yeah, "Bill" not a watchable companion IMHO.
I agree, Adam West will always be Batman. |

By MK - wamtec@comcast.net Wed 24/05/17 01:03:07 GMT Well....you probably would not agree with my picks on Doctor Who either....i.e.
Best Doctor Who = Tom Baker 2nd best = David Tennant Sexiest companion = Katy Manning Most annoying companion = Catherine Tate Ugliest companion = Pearl Mackie.
I never really considered Sean Connery right for the part of Bond because while he was a good actor Ian Flemng wrote Bond to be an Englishman and Connery, Brosnan and Lazenby are not English. Timothy Dalton was too bland in the role and Daniel Craig was way too violent for my tastes....so I liked Moore's tongue in cheek portrayal.
I guess I prefer tongue in cheek portrayals because the best Batman for me has always been Adam West and I don't like any of the modern Batman actors.
Roger Moore was a fine performer....even though he was never likely to win an Oscar, he ways entertained me.
R.I.P. Roger Moore

By AnthonyX - anthonyx@cogeco.net Wed 24/05/17 00:22:41 GMT From one of your tweets: "Roger Moore - the greatest Bond of all"...
Most entertaining, definitely. Best Bond? I think Connery deserves that distinction; I'm sure some will agree with me and others will disagree.
Moore certainly leaves a wonderful on-screen legacy as Simon Templar (The Saint), Brett Sinclair (The Persuaders) and of course James Bond, among other screen roles. The Bond films in which he appeared were certainly spectacular for the grandeur of their settings and special effects, the lovely ladies who played opposite him, and, of course, the villains. But he never really seemed to take his role seriously - there was always the silly pun, wisecrack, moment of sheer absurdity, or fracture of the fourth wall. OK, maybe Connery did all of those things too, but as Bond, Moore took it to a whole other level. Always entertaining and thoroughly watchable again and again, just not "best Bond" IMHO.
