I know I have been a critical voice of Wetlooker product before (perhaps to the annoyance of many on this site). Truth is, I probably have purchased at least 20 sets in the last two weeks, so I still support it. Dima can likely verify this. That said, I only ever wanted to make constructive suggestions based on some experience in the wetlook photography genre. I think there is something to be said for quality vrs quantity. On one hand, there is no denying the vast stable of great models Dima and Company display in the sets. Superb outfit choices and especially the "aoz" prefixed beach shots, a great location. I think those beach sets are probably the best because of the natural light and the photographer uses a reflector to bring out the shine of the wet clothing (a very important element). I think I would agree with the earlier posts and say it is often "missed opportunity" that brings the sets to a level of disappointment. I realize in the indoor scenarios, time is a factor, and with so many models to shoot per session, it can become a factory. For example, a model does a quick jump in the pool, gets out, goes to the shower, soaps up (soap totally ruins any sense of shine), quickly goes to grab a bucket or ladle and pours it over for a few seconds and exits. It would be far better to perhaps use what I call the Dunk And Rise approach. Instead of one jump and one quick emerging shot, how about position the model at the ladder, stairs or edge of the pool and just concentrate on that smaller area, where she can dip and rise so you can get many more emerging shots fresh with water. It would be easy for the model, and you would get what I also call "Fish In A Barrel" shots. In other words, many guaranteed great pics. I used to do that even at the beach. I would set my timer, Dip down and up as each flash went off, and it yielded great results. I would much prefer to have shots like that than the dozen or so which show the model swimming to the edge. Again, these are just supportive suggestions because I think with a little bit of change, Dima's sets could be superb. By the way, sometimes they get it totally right. I have seen improved shots (the beach ones really seem to be better than before).

I agree with you, plonss. The things you mention are also to me, the foundations of good wetlook and things that seem like they're being lost. So many lovely girls, but so many wasted opportunities.Jeans are great, occasionally, but business attire is far better. Nice shoes (not sneakers) are a must. Personally, I don't see the point of clothing destruction - if it's worthy of being soaked, it's worthy of being soaked time & time again. Bring back the fun, the spontaneity and the true, complete wetlook experience!

Your worldcup discount for individual sets prompted me to buy some sets, Normally I would not have taken “the risk”, because I never got fully satisfied with my prior purchases, and did not get receive any set I cherished afterwards and want to watch again and again as some sets of other producers. The reason is that I found many elements that spoilt for me the wetlook experience.

So I was anxious to know whether your sets improved (in my eyes, I should stress, it is subjectively what I say, others may love it). I bought a newer set in a pool, and an somewhat older one (a year or so) at a beach. The newer one was technically of higher quality than the other one, still with the newer one as well there are elements that will prevent me from buying further sets. Here are some notes.

- The video is a by product of the photos. So you will see the girl posing all the time, instead of some natural action. Of course I am aware this has to do with a time constraint. Since you aim at mass production, there is probably no time for such a natural story without unnatural poses. I also noted that the girl arrived with slightly wet hair. That spoilt a lot for me, because it is such a clear indication that the girl did one set shortly before, changed clothes and did it again, that the whole act had not much to do with a wish of the girl to become wet etc etc. A clear sign of industrial production thus.

- The video of a year ago was much worse. I choose the video because I found the outfit of the girl as seen on the photos extremely sexy. But there was much to spoil the wetlook experience here, at least for me. One of them was that the photographer did not venture himself in the sea, so all the action, including the important action of getting wet, was far away and hardly visible. Moreover the girl had a bag with her, and was endlessly occupied of caring for that bag, often holding the bag in front of her, making it impossible to see her body completely. This “bag action” also spoilt the idea that she was doing something she liked, it was again just the pose for the photographer that determined the action. At last my girl appeared in full glory at the shore in her wet outfit. Her hair was still partly dry. I hoped that she would dive in and swim, and that her hair would get wet, and that I would get a sense of adventure. No Sir, the video ended, and my girl disappeared leaving me with 150 photographs or so, half of which are filled with that stupid “bag action”.

My recommendations

If I was you, I would

1. concentrate more on quality than quantity

2. decide whether the video will be central to your production or the photos. If is the video, just abandon this idea of posing for the camera in all kind of unnatural positions. Just let the girl act more natural according to a pre-agreed scenario, and take time, so that you can remove bad moments afterwards.

I know you have a lot of fans out there, so probably I am in a minority position, and after my recent purchases I rediscovered that I probably never will get satisfied with your way of production. Let it be, just my few cents….. and a small hope you will change your approach, albeit very small, because I believe my wishes are non compatible with the mass production you keep up.
