Some of the artistic photos on Flickr and DeviantArt show a woman who is depressed taking a bath or (more often) shower fully clothed. It's a sad but beautiful image. I think we all take solace in things of beauty when we feel sad. |

Had a crappy day today so found myself feeling a strong desire to get wet and seek solace in wetlook imagery – makes me wonder if others do that too, though of course, wet thoughts at the height of happiness are better, especially if inspired by proximity to wet opportunity or seeing a source of water and girls on the brink of plunging in. It’s a film / tv cliché for characters in stress to jump in showers regardless of clothes, especially women – always felt such images, ie Vesper’s shower in a state of shock when Bond kills a man in front of her in Casino Royale, were the least likely scenes but now I’m less sure. Do others find wetlook thought and action relieves distress or is it only something enjoyed when happy anyway? Arthur Chappell
