This technology looks like the type of equipment used in 360 virtual tours type images, except someone adapted a camcorder to it instead of a still camera. It would be ideal if you wanted to record a full 360 degree field of view, but as a producer, I think I'd rather prefer to control a small area in any given location, instead of working a space all the way around the camera.

It is possible to see 360 degree angle videos on youtube now.
