Ngawa says it is only 50GB of data.....he should ask himself....is all his historical data worth more than $20 to him....because it only costs $20 to buy a 64GB thumb drive or a 64GB SD card to backup and store that data on another device.

If you are into Cloud Storage you can get unlimited backups of your entire PC with Carbonite for $47 per year. Personally I do not trust cloud storage...just look what happened to many celebs like Jennifer Lawrence.....you send your private media to the cloud and then some hackers hack into your cloud storage and try to blackmail you...

None of us are celebrities but we all have private stuff that we do not want our employers or relatives to see, so I prefer to store my stuff under my own control and not send it into a cloud where is it more easily hacked and then you get an extortion email from some hacker who threatens to post stuff about you online unless you send them money.

Buy the new damn drive. They make external drives in teribites now and they don't cost that much. If you value the content, spend the little money that one costs and store all your material on it. I do photography and have three separate external drives for redundancy.

Can anybody tell me how long a hard drive can last? I have a load of stuff stored on an old drive that I pulled out of a laptop when the motherboard died about 10 or 12 years ago. It's quite full now (it's only 50Gig) but there's stuff on it going back to 1997 when I first got onto wet look sites. I put it in a special casing that I got quite cheaply and I can plug it into any pc as an external drive but I dread the day that I plug it in and it doesn't work. I suppose I could buy a purpose made one with lots of space but I'm a cheapskate and anyway this drive has been such a good old friend...
