Coming back to the initial question, I guess that's something the free market will decide anyway. And there's also two parties that could ask this question ... the consumer and producer (as MK pointed out). Both obviously have different views on the topic.
Es EdR wrote in his earlier reply I think there is one major difference in the business model of producers. It's subscription vs. pay-per-download. For me personally as a consumer subscriptions don't work anymore since most of my favorite producers also offer pay per download. As a producer, subscriptions have never been an option because I do not make a living (not even close to) from producing and my free-time for production is detemined by family, friends and my full-time job. So all model-recruiting, shooting, editing and not to forget marketing has to happen in very limited time. Sticking to a fixed release regime is impossible for me and would inevitably lead to lower production value if I tried.
So pay-per-download is the only option and leaves the decision to buy or not totally with the consumer. I calculate my prices depending on cost and effort necessary for production and post-production. Experience taught me what prices I need to charge to break even overall and not having to subsidise my productions with my private money. So lowering prices would most likely not lead to increased revenue.
As probably many producers out there I started because - to use the words of MK - "if you want the job done right (or as you like it to) ....do it yourself" ... Seelling a product at a reasonable (and that is allways in the aye of the beholder) price is more motivating to me than to "throw it away" for nothing at all. It tells me that my buyers really appreciate what I am doing. Let's say I could make the same revenue by selling a video or photoset 50 times for $2 or 10 times for 10$ I would choose the latter. |

By Wet Guy - Sun 13/11/16 01:37:31 GMT Hi all -
Now I would be in the top 1% in the US - you know, the people that have too much money and don't pay enough tax to finance the welfare state as they say Be that as it may
But even with that, I buy what I think provides value. I would subscribe to a lot of sites and buy a lot more clips if they were more reasonably priced, I personally think the the sweetspot for a subscription is about $9 per month with a 30 day minimum. If you have great stuff a d terrific updates people will continue. But these 90 day subscriptions for big prices for what you show on this site is sort of ridiculous. Leon's site is awesome (Mostwam TV) and for the volume of stuff he offers and continuous updates is well worth the price (I am a subscriber.) But when I look at others here there is no compelling volume of offerings or just the same old stuff. You other producers have to get real ... if you have great stuff, offer it at a reasonable price and keep providing it with great updates, If you don.t, quit with the 90 day minimums and just offer your stuff for a cheap price on clips for sale.
Don't misunderstand - I applaud your energy to produce wetlook content, but c'mon, we're not stupid. Offer it at a reasonable price and you will get many more sales. I am just trying to help you make more money!
Just my opinion. My fellow wetookers - what do you think?
