I don't know where you are, but the key to it is watching your transactions. In the US anyway, you have the ultimate power, if you see a transaction that you did not do, call the card issuer immediately and contest the charge. The charge will be removed, and the entity charging the card will be challenged. If they can't provide proof (usually a signature), they lose, not you. I also agree, if you can open a PayPal account, and charge your purchases to PayPal, who then bills your charge card, you gain additional protection.

I just recently got my credit card and really looking forward to buying a few things here and there but I´m a little scared to use it because in the past I like everybody else probably read a lot about insecurity and false bookings. How is it nowadays, services like Verotel or Skrill look promising but I don´t know how to choose one. I would appreciate advice very much too feel safer and have a good first experience. Thank you very much.
