Between Germany and Russia you have Poland with "wanna", which is the Russian spelling with the western (German) letters. Sometimes words cover wide regions. Mostly moved from German (or Latin via German) to Slavic languages but sometimes shockingly the other way around (like pickles, "Gurken" in German from Polish "ogorki"). Languages are fun to study :) |

By Malvineous - mrnemesis@ntlworld.com Tue 13/12/16 00:04:39 GMT Funny thing is -- a number of Russian words are English words transcribed into Cyrillic. However, BAHHA reads "vanna", which of course is cognate with German "Wanne" (Badewanne: bathtub).
Being the loser I am, that observation was more interesting than the video :P |
