What filesystem are you using? And why do people have to learn to do backups the hard way all the time? A hard disk will die over the time, there is no exception.
I think you should try your luck in a computer related forum. Sounds like a few files will get corrupted if you are unlucky. First, try to clone it bit by bit (in Linux you can use "dd"). Use a parameter to ignore bad sectors. Then, try whatever could help to recover your data. |
In reply to Message (70172) Hard drive might be going on the fritz, please help
By Terry S - Mon 24/04/17 16:55:07 GMT It appears my external hard drive has gotten some bad/corrupted sectors and I'm terrified I might lose my entire wetlook collection of over 10 years. Does anyone have any good recommendations of hard drive recovery software or anything? I've run chkdsk and my computer won't access it. It's a WD My Passport Ultra, It'll let me use the password to unlock it but after that none of my computers will let me open it. Please help. |
