FYI this is a pagan tradition that has been going on for over 1000 years, so I doubt there is a single person living in Poland who is not aware of this 1000 year old tradition. There is another aspect of this tradition that may be even more objectionable in today's politically correct snowflake world.....i.e. spanking girls behinds with pussy willow branches....omg !!!

The reality today is, nobody goes out on the street on Wet Monday without being aware that this is water soaking day. None of the girls in that video were kidnapped and forced into being soaked.....they were all particpants. If they wanted to avoid the soaking they would just stay indoors.

There are several Polish wet fans on this forum and they can give you a better idea of what goes. It is true that there are gangs of youths in Poland who run amok attacking innocent people on city buses with water waterbuckets, and the police will arrest those youths. But there are DESIGNATED AREAS where water splashing is permitted (which is what you see in the video) and so it is OK in DESIGNATED AREAS.....but not OK to do that in shopping malls or city buses.

The same thing happens in Thailand with Songkran. There are some do's and don'ts.....i.e. water splashing in designated areas is fine....but it is a crime to attack people in shopping malls or city buses.

In summary, the wet monday events in Hungary and Slovakia are totally harmless and gentle events with willing participants. In Poland things can get a bit rowdy and some innocent people get assaulted (same is true at Songlkran as well) so basically it is OK in designated areas in Poland, but not OK to run amok in the city streets.

Oddly this scene seems a lot like mass assault / violence to me.

I would be super unhappy if my daughters were forced into that gross street bathtub against their will with crazy people dressed as clowns and cheering on.
