Thanks for the good info, I appreciate that. From my small few experiences first hand, the only time that I did think to check the tag on the top my partner at the time was wearing was with a polyester/elastane blend of fabric. It was a smooth fabric and a little bit shiny before it was wet, and it looked so smooth and liquidy when it did get wet but I think that visual appeal was only present while the water was running down it..

I've had other occasions where the visual sheen was less present while water was running down an item of clothing but didn't have the opportunity to find out what the material was on those occasions, so I suppose I just want to try to ensure that this lovely gesture from my current partner is both tasteful (no oils or syrups involved I'm afraid) and powerful (right fabrics, right visual effect when wet (clingy, shiny etc) )

I never considered cotton's but then again I'm really not experienced enough to investigate materials etc

black jersey types cottons and viscose etc,the more fabricy type of clothes look great when wet, opaque black tights and stockings etc

they look great wet, the more layers and thickness in the dress or tops the more they hold water for longer

suede leather and real leather which isn't already shiny soaks up water very well, i too am not a fan of pvc or shiny leather as it doesnt change visually and the water beads off of it

i have a green leather skirt i wore out in the rain and it fel nice, then the heavens opened and i just got drenched, the skirt went from feeling nice to sensational when is got full soaked,

just reminded me of a shorter tighter black leather skirt i used to wear for clubbing etc, i was a wrap type so the front was mostly double layered, iid gotten it wet a few times before and it was one that when dry went a bit stiff so i'd have to soak it and wring it out to start the night off an basically keep it damp or wet the whole night, as the night went on i'd just keep it soaked,

other ideas for keeping the shine going for much longer is to use a syrup, obviously the thicker the better and at home you can get away with as much as you like

if you want to go out in the day time for a slippery shiney walk you can use a thinner type when its been or is raining, it will look like you are just really soaked, i use custard at night time because there is hardly anyone about

the one i found works really well during the rainy day time is 100% vegetable glycerine, its available in nice big 5L jugs too, its around half the thickness of custard but completely clear

the shine stays on much longer, being food grade it doesnt harm the skin, as always test a small sample first etc

Hey all, my partner has agreed to wear a dress in the shower for some fun, so I have decided that I will buy one for her as I love to see black clothes when wet and she doesn't have any black dresses.

I want to be sure I buy something with the right type of fabric because the major visual appeal for me is the sheen or shine of the clothing as the water cascades down it.

My question is, which fabrics provide the best shine whilst water is running down them and also which fabrics hold the shine for longer when the water has stopped flowing?
