I guess I need to come up with an analogy that you can’t twist around …

HEY, TEACHER! LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE!

The western world has embraced feminism on the argument of equality, although i now see feminism to be hiding behind the victimhood of inequality in the interest of male domination.  I suppose the downtrodden often seek to gain the upperhand whenever possible, but in this case it is my opinion that the inequality is taking western culture largely over a cliff of destruction.

Why? In order for the powers that be to more fully rule over the commoners.

But what does that have to do with us?  In most cases, men have not been taught how to be men, and from so many different sources, human beings have been taught to live without consideration of consequence... get drunk whenever you want to, have sex whenever you want to, if things aren't working out for you, gender reassignment MUST be the answer!

I should probably mention i am not against non-binary people.  And if you want me to discuss the non-binary subject, Janet&Julia's forum is probably a more appropriate place for that...

Most people would not be interested in discussing "smart" beyond a single scale.

Successful people only can be compared against the specific measurement arbitrarily described!  Is it a certain amount of money in the bank?  Is it a certain number of offspring?  The Airfix kit leaves the factory with all of the parts packaged correctly.  Many people have no desire to assemble any of the kits at all.  As soon as possession of a kit is known, they throw it into the trash! (stem cell researches seem to be interested in the remains at that point)  a builder can follow the instructions and "successfully" build the kit... maybe even correctly painting the model and applying ALL of the decals in the right place.  I always built my aircraft with the landing gear retracted, because i often "played" with my models, and of course. most combat aircraft retract the landing gear upon successfully completing take off!

And then there IS kit-bashing... the operator's cockpit, tank tracks for mobility, jets & rockets for thrust... a historian might call it an unsuccesful reproduction, but a fellow artist might see the genius in the combination of the components.

Imagine - a clay potter creates a cup, or a bowl, or perhaps a fancy vase...  can you imagine the cup or bowl or vase asking the potter: "why did you make me like this? I wanted to be a plate!" (or an ashtray? etc?)  Incoherent components might seem incoherent when it doesn't seem to have a place in this world... but maybe the place to be has not yet been revealed?  I would argue that MOST people are a product of incoherent components regardless of what other's might try to convince you of otherwise..

That notion portrays being “smart” as a single scale, where each person is simply “more smart” or “less smart”. IQ works the same way: higher IQ, objectively better.

Imagine you had a bunch of model kits (like Airfix kits), only each box is severely incomplete, so you glue together a model from whatever is left. Tracks from a tank kit, wings from an aeroplane kit … All perfectly good parts, but in a combination that would make no sense.

Successful people are made from “coherent components”: the various constituents of their personality and soul work together like laser light. I am made from “incoherent components”.

Effective smartness is a vector set: you want all the vectors pointing in a similar direction. Otherwise, you can have plenty of smart aspects to your being, but the end result is ineffective.

As regards that video, I don’t really know what went on outside of school. Let me quote from my “Class of ’92 – Yearbook” (compiled 1999, our final year), descriptions of three girls in my year:

“The best thing about Emma, after going to the loo I no longer have to go through the pretence of washing my hands. Neither of us, unlike the rest of you, are in the habit of pissing on our own hands. We leave masturbation to the proper time and place,!” [sic]

I don’t know who wrote that, but Emma was a girl I was attracted to for most of my time there (and she knew, in the early years, at least). Yet, that passage of text saddens my heart and informs me that I would have made a bad choice. The only Valentine’s Day card I ever got was through the school system we had each year, from “Emma”. Which Emma it was, I will never know: her friend was also Emma. I ignored it: I was too shy and had no idea what to do anyway.

“She likes a drink (or two, or three, or ten) and is always up for a good night out. When drunk she becomes a complete fluzie and mothers have been known to lock up their sons.”

Maybe this is a joke and the opposite of the truth. I don’t know. Suzie was one of the smart kids so far as I was led to believe, and gorgeous. Still, again, likely an ill-suited choice.

“She has always been good for a laugh – whether it is her drunken state a [sic] sixth form socials or musical escapades.”

Jane may have even been attracted to me, although fuck knows why. I was certainly attracted to her, and she was another very intelligent achiever. However, this was not the only reference to her drunken tendencies.

None of these people would have ever made a good match.

As for the decimal arrangement: my notion is to put the response after whatever I am responding to. Yes it’s true that many people here seem to treat topics as linear despite this being a non-linear forum. Of course, if there was a quote facility to quote previous posts …

Malvineous: has anyone told you that "you are too smart for your own good" (i've been told variations as a younger man, and have taken steps to either conceal or attempt to prove otherwise?) but in any case, i might dare say you are smarter than me?  And yet, being smart is not exactly a freedom from limitations of reality!  Well, you haven't asked for my opinion (recently, at least?) so i might cut myself off before biting off more than i could chew?

but i do want to emphasize that you COULD have posted within the .1 decimal sequence, but i bet you would argue that you are fully justified to posted tangentially as long as your comment is MORE appropriate to do so out of sequence?

Supposedly for the good of the group, a link from "Redonkulous" about female behavior, and maybe a little bit of Alpha male behavior also?  Maybe finish reading the rest of this posting BEFORE watching that clip OR watch the clip first???

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0AuWsV9Zz8

And then Ben's comment regarding "audience plants" which seems completely believable (probably explains the rare occasion when only a single lady jumped into the pool?)

I'm sure SOMEBODY has the link to the Sally-Jessy-Rapael video where she has some kind of teeny-bopper pop music singer in a pool on stage, and at least 3 or 4 female audience members spontaneously jump in the pool fully dressed, at least one or two included the shoes they were wearing?  Another example of the topic of discussion of Terrence & friend??

Variations of this show have been broadcast in Argentina (1997) , Australia (1994), Denmark (1994), France (1995-1999), Greece (1998-2000), Indonesia (2004), Italy (1994-2003), Netherland (1995), Norway (1994-1996), Poland (2000), Portugal (1996-1998), Spain (1995-1996), Sweden (1996), United Kingdom (1996-1999), United States (1995), Turkey (1995-1997) and Vietnam (2018-2020). There are a few very poor quality clips to be found on YouTube which might give some clues why the German version is different from the others.

STUDIO SET DESIGN

From looking at the clips, it seems the layout of the studio has much to do with it. In most variations of Man-O-Man, the pool is situated above the audience, as it appears to have been built as a freestanding structure on the studio floor, with the audience below. In the German version, the pool appears to be built into the studio floor so that the audience are on the same level, and are seated around three sides of the pool. Access to the water is therefore easier.

DUNKING OF WINNER

In the German version, the tradition is that the winner gets dunked into the pool by audience members at the end of the programme. Often a group of women grab him and rush to the poolside, but the momentum carries some of them into the water also.

FULLY CLOTHED POOL PARTIES

It is well known that Germans have a fondness for fully clothed pool parties. They are not the only country, but their wetlook events are notable. The programme just morphs into a pool party.

AUDIENCE PLANTS

A small number of professional actresses may have been "planted" in the audience in the early episodes with the instruction to jump into the pool at the end of the show. Once the programme starts airing on television, future audience members will think this is normal, and some will always automatically consider jumping into the pool.

Now i am curious about why this only happened in Germany? (well... perhaps THIS question is already partially answered?)

How did it start?  Did the Gameshow hosts encourage the ladies to jump in the pool?  Why would there only be one spontaneous jumper after one show, and dozens after a different show?

(if anyone knows the answers, or even can offer speculative suggestions?)

The Man-o-Man gameshow (Mann-o-Mann in Germany) was originally an Australian TV programme that was franchised in about 20 countries around the world during the 1990s. It was a kind of male talent and beauty contest in which eliminated contestants were pushed fully clothed into an on-set swimming pool.

I am only aware of audience members (who were all female) jumping into the pool at the end of the German version. It appeared to be random and spontaneous, without much thought of the consequences. In some shows just a single lady went in, and in others it ended up with more than a dozen. They jumped into the water in the regular clothes thay had been wearing to the show, including shoes, and had to make their way home soaked.

The Germans are renowned for their fully clothed pool parties in particular, and historically their gameshows in general, so I doubt any of them would have felt at all ashamed.

i say none for several reasons...

1) In the case of the German people, my perception is that few of them would feel ashamed of revealing more of themselves than they had intended

2) I have only seen those ladies voluntarily jumping into the pool, not like they were pushed/thrown in OR accidentally fell in?

3) I have seen several ladies who might hold their arms across their bosom's to cover their exposure, yet did not give off a shame/embarrassment vibe... so, they didn't FEEL bad, but yet took action that they felt the needed to?

In conclusion, i imagine they cherished the experience!

Scenes like these leave me wondering how many of the women were not actually “properly” dressed for the occasion, i.e. whose clothes revealed more of themselves than they had intended. Did that leave them feeling any shame or embarrassment, or did they just cherish the experience?
