Let's start with wetLOOK! To me, this is how most clothing will LOOK different between when it dry versus wet. And why do ANY of us care? All of us seem to tell some kind of story at some early age where clothing becomes wet, usually in some way that was unplanned. Here is what happened to me: My first wetlook memory occurs somewhere around age 2. My parents had a small paddling pool and they must have stored it on it's side when not in use. A heavy storm during the night must have caught the pool with the wind, and then filled it up at least halfway with water. Early the next day i had wandered into the backyard (dressed in regular clothes) and finding the pool with water, climbed in to enjoy the water. One distinct memory i have from that, was how i repeatedly did 2 or 3 push-ups for the specific reason of seeing the water draining out of my shirt. I would lower myself down, then look as the water poured out when i lifted myself up. I don't recall if i was discovered or had wandered back inside on my own? I don't recall any punishment, or anything else about the incident...

I also remember television commercials for Mountain Dew where attractive teenagers were getting soaking wet fully clothed. And this must have formed the idea in me that this was a fun activity! And some TV shows and movies where the characters ended up fully clothed in pools, rivers, lakes, the ocean, etc. With SO MUCH wetlook material to be found on the internet, it appears some people have preferences for clothing: elegant ball gowns and formal clothing, or dark colors that display the noticeable shine when saturated, or the color white which often becomes nearly transparent when saturated. Some people prefer to see the person entering the water slowly and don't care if the the hair stays dry, while others prefer to see a sudden full dunking, and also enjoy to see the person's hair "destroyed" by the sudden dunking too!

I might make a few comments about wetFEEL... Some people don't care about LOOKing at other people getting wet, but enjoying the FEELING of the soaked clothes. Often there is a secondary benefit of cooling off on a hot day.

To answer your question: I think it’s all on the “spectrum” of wetlook, but for me personally the most exciting part is when the woman is emerging from the water. The shine is the best!

Is wetlook the shiny, dripping look of the clothes right after one exits the water? What about after a while, when most of the dripping is gone and the clothes pretty much look normal, except darker shade? Is wetlook about looking at the sheen of the clothes, or taking in the feeling that one must have felt after wearing wet clothes for a while?
